Caring for your Momo Jord Topquilt
The hammock quilt — or the down blanket you can just as well use at home. The care is the same as for a good down duvet: respect the fill.
Before every use
Shake the down so it fluffs up. Check the shell — tears, leaking down, worn seams — so you catch small problems before they grow.
Use it right
- The drawcord and buttons build a footbox around your feet.
- Buckles across your back close the topquilt into a cocoon.
- Or leave it all loose and use it as an ordinary blanket.
Always use it together with an underquilt or other insulation beneath you in the hammock — a quilt on top isn’t enough on its own when it’s cold.
Store the down right
Down is a living material — it wants air.
- Store it loosely in the large storage bag included, not in the small stuff sack.
- Hanging on a hanger is even better if you have the room.
- Long-term storage in the small stuff sack permanently kills the down’s loft.
Washing — rarely, gently
- Shake off dirt after every trip.
- Air it out between uses.
- When needed: hand wash in lukewarm water with a down-specific detergent. Ordinary detergent strips the down’s natural oils.
- Rinse thoroughly — leftover detergent weighs the down down.
- Tumble dry on low heat with a few tennis balls — it’s the only way to make the down fluffy again. Air drying takes days, and down can mould in the meantime.
No bleach, no fabric softener. Send it to a professional down cleaner if you’re unsure.
