Use your Momo Jord Asym Tarp safely

Lighter and quicker to pitch than the large tarp — the same rules apply: tension it properly, keep an eye on the lines and stakes.

Before every use

Have a quick look over the tarp, guy lines, line tensioners, tent stakes and carabiners. No tears, no frayed lines, no bent or cracked stakes. If anything is damaged — don’t use it. Get in touch with us.

Pitch it right

• Tension the lines evenly — slack lines flap in the wind and wear on the fabric.
• The asymmetry is deliberate: the wider end goes over your head.
• For more wind shelter: set the tarp low and close to the hammock, with the long side facing the wind.
• Use the reflective strands in the guy lines — place the lines so no one runs into them in the dark.

Tent stakes — keep an eye on them

Y-shaped aluminium stakes drive in well in most ground, but:

• Don’t hit stakes against rock — they bend.
• Mark stakes with strips of fabric if someone could trip.
• Angle the lines so they aren’t at eye height.

Wind and storms

The asym tarp is light and thin — it isn’t made for storm winds. In strong gusts: take it down or pitch it really low with extra lines.

Don’t hang it over fire

The tarp is waterproof — not fire-resistant. A stove, fire or disposable grill under the tarp will melt the material and give off thick smoke. Keep at least 3 m away from open flames.

During thunderstorms

Take it down and move away if thunder rolls in.

Care

Wipe off dirt with a soft cloth. When needed: hand wash in lukewarm water with mild soap, then hang it up to dry in the shade. Wait until it is completely dry before packing it away — otherwise the fabric can grow mould. No washing machine, no tumble dryer, no bleach.
