Use your daisy chain straps safely
Daisy chain straps (tree huggers) are what hold the hammock up. Hang them wrong and they give way. Use them right and they last for many seasons.
Before every use
Take a quick look over the straps and the seams. Frayed edges, scorched fibres or seams that have started to give — don’t use them. Get in touch with us.
Maximum load
Always use with the recommended hammock and within the hammock’s maximum load (200 kg for the Momo Jord Hammock).
How to use them
- Wrap the strap around the tree at eye level. Thread one end through the loop at the other end.
- Pull it snug so the strap sits against the trunk — not tight, but not loose.
- Hook the carabiner into the loop that gives the right height and tension for the hammock.
- The daisy loops spread the load — always clip the carabiner into a loop, not between them.
Protect the bark — and the strap
- The polyester webbing is there to protect the tree. Don’t wrap rope or thin cord straight against the trunk.
- Don’t use the daisy chain straps around sharp-edged structures (e.g. beams with hard corners) — it cuts the fibres.
- Don’t use them on cars, motorcycles or anything else where the strap can chafe against sharp edges.
Extension
The daisy chain extension is used when the trees stand far apart. Connect it with the carabiner — never tie a knot in the strap. Knots reduce the breaking strength dramatically.
Don’t use them for
- Towing or vehicle recovery
- Climbing or fall protection
- Lifting heavy objects
- Anything other than hanging a hammock
These are hammock straps, not safety equipment for falls or heavy loads.
Care
Rinse off dirt with water. Hang up to dry. Store dry — damp plus darkness over time is polyester’s only enemy.
